Rough and Planning

For this assignment, the class was divided into groups. The grade 12’s were to play a leadership role; I was paired up with 2 grade 11’s; Jennifer Sudakov and Kian Solati. We chose Noise Pollution as our topic for the Public Service Announcement and began brainstorming right away.

After deciding on the idea and the plot line. I began to create the design brief and the pitch while my group helped me brainstorm ideas and worked on their own portfolios. It took me a long time to complete the groups storyboard, design brief and script. My biggest downfall in this project was that I tried to do too many things and did not even out the workload among my group. I got Jennifer to type up the script while I booked the camera`s and filmed for the individual 10 shot assignment. Unfortunately, there were many drawbacks too; there were a few days when I was not at school, therefore we missed our book date for filming and on some days, we were not ready to film our video because we had no setting or time. However, when we finally managed to film; we finished shooting in one hour or so.

The next challenge was editing the video; the original shots were each 1-2 minutes long; making a total of about 11 minutes of video when the requirement for the PSA was supposed to be 30 seconds. I managed to cut out scenes; making it look abrupt which added to the mood of the video.

Another obstacle I had to overcome was that Kian`s voice did not record onto my phone and it was the night before the deadline. So the next day, I got Lazo Poncho; one of our classmates to scream “ITS TOO LOUD” in the dark room. I then compressed the voice recording with downloaded sounds from the internet onto an audacity file and dubbed it over the video.
